BBC Radio Shropshire reporter, Shaun Foggerty, came along to the first ever meeting and rehearsal of the Shropshire Youth Choir this Wednesday at Meole Brace Science College in Shrewsbury. Shaun interviewed our choir master, Robert Harper, and three of our brand new members before recording a little of the Ghanian Hunting song we used as a warm up before tackling some scored pieces.

We are looking to join up with an already existing event at Christmas time to sing a ten minute slot to showcase the great work all the members of the choir will be doing on Shine and Beautiful. Robert Harper spoke with John Darvall on his BBC Radio Shropshire program earlier this evening to talk about the reasons why he’s setting up the Shropshire Youth Choir. The amount of support for the development of the choir has been astounding this last week or so. Since I decided to set up the choir, people have popped up from every angle with well wishes for the cause and many offering assistance in other ways.
I truly am amazed at how keen the people of Shropshire are for me to succeed with my dream to create a Youth Choir for Shropshire and I’m delighted to have been asked by the BBC to go onto John Darvall’s radio show early tomorrow …
